The Department of Design, IIT Hyderabad Join Cultural Exchange in Thailand

The Department of Design, IIT Hyderabad lead by Prof. Srikar A V R  visited Ubon Ratchathani University (UBU) Thailand, to collaborate on preserving historic sites in the Isan region highlighting centuries-old cultural ties between India and Thailand. The team met with Ambassador Nagesh Singh and university officials to discuss future academic exchanges. A special replica of the Ardhanareeswara statue was presented marking the spirit of shared heritage.

Earlier  in February  2025, Ubon Ratchathani inaugurated a month-long exhibition on “Hindu Art and Architecture: From South India to Southeast Asia,”at the National Museum of Ubon Ratchathani. The exhibition offered insights into the intertwined cultural heritage of the two regions, highlighting scholarly research from Ubon Ratchathani University, led by Dr.Lalida Boonmee, Indian Institute of Technology – Hyderabad led by Prof. Srikar A.V.R., and Ubon Ratchathani National Museum.
