Best Short Documentary Award for ‘The Legacy from Beyond’

Thesis Documentary by Harsh Raj Gond (M.Des 2021–23) This short film follows Banwali and Rajkumari, two artists from Patangarh, as they carry forward the legacy of legendary Gond artist Jangarh Singh Shyam. Through their everyday lives and art, the documentary reflects on tradition, loss, and the quiet strength of a community keeping its culture alive.

Harsh Raj Gond’s (MDes 21-23) Thesis Documentary film on Gond art of Patangarh won Best Short Documentary and  Best Cinematography Award at Mokkho International Film Festival 2023. The short documentary is about two indigenous artists Banwali and Rajkumari, along with other artists who are actively creating Gond art even today in Patangarh village and are committed to carrying forward the legacy established by a legendary Gond artist, Late Shri Jangarh Singh Shyam, who sadly took his own life in 2001. This documentary captures how a community keeps its tradition alive with passion, pride, and paint. The project was guided by Prof. Ankita Roya
