Furniture Design project VARIO by B Des 2nd year students Ishita Samant, Aditya Heshi and Thameem Rasheed won the 1st Runner-up at the ADI Battle of Projects 2025. The project was guided by Prof. Mohammad Shahid and Prof. Prasad Onkar.
Project Brief: Design students struggle with classroom workspaces that lack physical comfort, mental inspiration, and functional organisation. Small, uninspiring tables and the absence of organising accessories hinder creativity and productivity. Despite the unique needs of design education, current classroom setups fail to support collaborative and creative workflows, highlighting the need for a workspace solution tailored to design students’ physical and mental demands. Vario is a versatile classroom table set designed for Indian design and art students, balancing creativity with space, material, and funding constraints. The set includes two curved tables that can be used individually or combined in various ways. Features include sturdy hooks, an under-table rack, and a portable Idea Board with a magnetic whiteboard and tray for stationery. With vibrant blue and orange colours, Vario promotes teamwork, individual creativity, and fun.
