Eligibility criteria

Education:

The candidates should have a minimum of First Class (60% marks or 6 CGPA) or equivalent grades in the qualifying examination (relaxation is provided on CGPA/marks for SC/ST/OBC candidates, 10% for OBC candidates and 15% for SC/ST candidates). The following are considered,

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering /Architecture / Design / Interior Design or equivalent (4 year program after 10+2)
  • Professional Diploma in Design (NID/CEPT or equivalent of a 4-year program after 10+2)
  • BFA (4-year professional program after 10+2)
  • Master’s degree in Arts / Science / Computer Applications or equivalent (2-year program after 10+2+3)
Work experience:
  • Working professionals with a minimum of two years of experience from a registered organization/startup.
  • The candidate should be currently working in an industry and a NOC should be obtained by the candidate from the industry in which he/she is currently working.
    (The NOC should clearly mention that “Mr./Ms. XXXX has been working with us since XXXX and we have no objection to him/her registering for the MDes by Practice program with IITH. )

Application Process

Application for DAT will be online through IITH portal. Call letter for the listed candidates will be sent through e mail.

Selection Process

The selection is a three step process. An online Design Aptitude Test (DAT)  will be conducted to shortlist for personal interview. Candidates who are not appearing for the online DAT will not be considered for further admission process.

  • Step -1: Shortlisting based on online Design Aptitude Test (DAT) and Portfolio screening
  • Step -2: Shortlisting for Personal interview based on step-1
  • Step -3: Personal interview based on step-2 and showcasing selected works
  • Step -4: Final results

FAQ

What will be the class timings on weekdays / weekends?

Typically, classes will be conducted in the evenings from 5:00 to 8 pm on weekdays.

Will it be on-line live classes or recorded sessions?

Classes will be live and online.

Will I need to produce a work experience certificate from my current employer

Yes, work experience and NoC from the organization.

Will this course be completely on-line or will I be required to attend the college campus anytime?

You have to come to campus for the semester-ending reviews.

Are there any scholarship programs that I’ll be eligible for?

If you are working in a Government organization, there are reduced course fees.

Will students pursuing M Des online get placement opportunities?

As of now, there is no placement support for Online candidates since the course is offered for working professionals.
