Title: Art History’s impact on Design Discipline
India boasts of her unique art historical and cultural diversity and to witness such magnitude of the cultural diversity of the folklores, arts and crafts defies the mainstream imaginations built by the so -called academic art & design world. The discipline of Art History might vary from social, ritualistic or of narrative tradition but they all contain vibrant & enigmatic sense in it . In glossy and glazing capitalism the cultural diversity which we study in Art History is marked by anonymity and yet to receive its due recognition. In this talk Mr. Aditya is going to examine the binaries that needs to be challenged through existing theoretical perspective where we have to shed the widely prevalent ”mainstream” cultural baggage of all these great art & design thinking where the modern art institutions needs to incorporate theory and practice of Art History into art education curricular and also its a time of self-questioning self-examination and self-awareness about the revival, sustenance and future of the timeless traditions of what we study in Art History.
